Public Speaking Awards
Annually at the Virginia Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference the Virginia BPW Foundation presents a savings bond to the top speaker in the Public Speaking I (students in grades 9 and 10) and Public Speaking II (students in grades 11 and 12) competitions held during the conference. Public Speaking I recognizes FBLA members in grades 9 and 10 who are beginning to develop qualities of business and information technology leadership by developing effective speaking skills. Public Speaking II recognizes FBLA members in grades 11 and 12 who, through public speaking, demonstrate qualities of business and information technology leadership by presenting a well-organized, logical, and substantial speech. In recent years Foundation Trustees have served as judges for the competitions.
